Master of Puppets

Shopped at Michael Levine today. Raquel found some beautiful silk and I bought supplies for my zipper skirt as well as a yard of these amazing feathers which I haven't decided how to use yet. Also received my alligator skin purse in the mail today. It's in excellent condition and well worth $25. Life is so fucking exciting right now.

They Are Coming to Get Us

I <3 Fake Magazine

Nervous energy today. I feel like I haven't stopped moving since my alarm went off at 7 (Ok, I hit snooze twice, but whatever...). Going to LA tomorrow for work so I spent the night packing and had to change my suitcase plans as Raquel's cat decided to urinate all over THAT one. Not sure what kind of sick incontinent vendetta that cat has against me, but I'm getting sick of it.

Did I mention I'm totally digging the most recent issue of I love Fake Magazine? That's where all these images are from. Rad shit, my friends.

Pick A Trick

Don't know where they came from but In Flagranti has been in our ears lately. Thanks, Rachel. This is what life in New York is going to be like. I'm already outta here in my mind.

Love this photo.

I'm brimming with secrets. Better not write too much or they'll spill out.

Bedouin Soundclash

I've developed an obsession for Bedouin veils. Being someone who likes bearing skin, I find it odd that I'm so into them, but check out how gorgeous they are! I bought a really pretty one on eBay (picture below) and I might jazz it up with more gold coins. Or I might leave it alone, we'll see. I'm really bad at restraining myself from buying weird shit...

Young Pop Things

It's somewhat rare to come across a person to consider a style icon, especially one with whom your style is shared. It's obvious why I love Lykke Li: her drapey and witchy black clothes, tiny shorts, sparkly shit, necklaces with a bunch of junk hanging off of them, black nail polish, and messy, center-parted hair that is, in some pictures, a similar color to mine. The first time I saw her, I was flipping through channels and saw a Stevie Nicks-ish figure playing live on some late show. I stopped, and I was hooked. While she doesn't have those raw edges I seek from music, her songs do make me dance, and when we watched her at Coachella, she certainly entertained. (On a personal note, the first picture was taken by an old Portland friend of mine, Chloe Richard. Isn't it always nice to see the work of your friends when you least expect it?)

Holy Ghosts Are In Command

Our friends Chuck and Brandon make up the noisy lo-fi band Crocodiles. A year ago, they played their first San Diego show in our living room, and now their new record, Summer of Hate, is out on Fat Possum. Last night we went to the Casbah to watch Spectrum (Sonic Boom from Spacemen 3's band), and Crocs supported. They were the best I've ever seen them, fresh off the Ladytron/Faint tour. If you like Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3 or Suicide, this band is for you. They'll be back on the road in a week doing a US tour with Holy Fuck, so check out the dates and make sure to catch them.

We are always running

Jak & Jil

Monday...well, well, well, we meet again. Went to LA this weekend with my mom to visit my brother and spend mother's day together. Never to be hampered by bonding time, I managed to get some party time in with an old friend (who i met in Spain at the ripe age of 15) at the Velvet Margarita. Something tells me it won't be long before I'm back to paint the town red. Last night Raquel and I drank burnt pineapples while fending off Coast Guard meatheads. It was way more fun than it sounds...and I have the headache today to prove it.

Tarot Will Teach You

Drama mama (and Aussie designer), Kym Ellery, doesn't disappoint with her fall/winter 09 line. I'm not loving the boots but everything else is obsession worthy. My god, woman, what have you done to me?! I posted nearly her entire collection because it's just that good (and the photos are gorgeous, dontcha think?). My favorite is that gold sequined exposed zipper/back dress.

Hallo Spaceboy

We have yet to feature boy style on Youthquaker, but after seeing the Horrors at Coachella (and taking some fashion cues from the lead singer, Faris), I decided to post some pictures of him. The online selection is pretty abysmal, but I'm going to post the best ones. I guess this dude is dating Peaches Geldof. I definitely think he straddles the line between douchebaggery and just plain rad, but I like the fact that he carries a doctor's bag, wears rabbit foot necklaces, and looks completely out of his element onstage.
